Cattle breeding company boss dies in accident

Mr Daly of The Island, Kiskeam, Co Cork had represented the Livestock Improvement Co-op of New Zealand in Ireland for a number of years, before setting up New Zealand Genetics (Ireland) Limited six years ago as a joint venture with the parent company.

Last December, the parent company had purchased the majority share from Mr Daly, who continued to serve as Managing Director.

Aged 50, the father of four is survived by his wife Mairéad and children Ellen, Jack, Eoghan and Elisha. His neighbour, Fianna Fáil TD Michael Moynihan, said: “We have been friends since we were born. The whole community is devastated. All we can do is extend our sympathy to his wife, children and family.” He said Mr Daly always found time outside his business life to promote and advance his native village, and was chairman of Kiskeam’s Maurice O’Keeffe music weekend.
