Irish media influenced general election result
Irish media influenced general election result

Drag-hunting would save foxes and farmers
Drag-hunting would save foxes and farmers
Another fox-hunting season has ended and, apart from the suffering inflicted on these beautiful wild dogs, hunts have also been cruel to farmers. The tally-ho brigades continue to encroach on lands that host expensive farm enterprises. Many farmers are eking out a livelihood, and few of them can afford to allow this indiscriminate vandalism of their property.

The national anthem needs new lyrics, but leave the Tricolour alone
The national anthem needs new lyrics, but leave the Tricolour alone

Jim Cosgrove (Irish Examiner, Letters, Saturday, March 19) is right to advocate a new national anthem. Like Michael Clifford, I, too, attended a flag-raising ceremony at my son’s school and the multi-coloured scholars sang the anthem as Gaeilge.

1916 letter: ‘Just war’ theory a skewed one that rules out all forms of rebellion
1916 letter: ‘Just war’ theory a skewed one that rules out all forms of rebellion

Northern Ireland Attorney General, John Larkin, recently had a pop at the Easter Rising — the usual stuff about it failing the ‘just war’ theory test and having no democratic mandate.
