I have seen many letters on your pages since the last election, most of them a variation on the theme of ‘stop wasting time and form a government, or else call a new election’.

As I see it, the troubling question of taxing water has three distinct parts.

Having attended the recent forum on housing and homelessness in the Custom House on March 31, and having istened to the narrow-focused discussion after the presentations, I thought ‘the more things change, the more they remain the same’. 

April 24 was 100 years to the day that Ireland declared its independence. Then, the symbol of freedom was the cow and people lamented the cow. A hundred years later, we are lamenting the loss of the tiger, our symbol of wealth.

It is more than ironic that while urging us “not to mix up historical fact with propaganda”, Liam MacFadden (April 25) indulges in quite a lot of historical revisionism himself.
