Now that a decision has been taken to demolish both the covered and uncovered stands to redevelop Páirc Uí Chaoimh, the opportunity should be grasped to also rotate the pitch through 90 degrees and run it north-south, as is the case in Semple Stadium, thereby eliminating the impact the setting sun has on teams defending the Blackrock goalmouth, and leading to fairer games, especially when penalties are awarded.
