Migrants should have voice but quotas are out
I agree, as long as it doesn’t involve quotas. I disagree with quotas full stop. Further, eligible candidates need to put their names forward to run.
If any potential candidates to be a representative voice of the migrant community in Ireland think getting elected is a long shot, then I suggest those candidates take inspiration from the Irish Jewish community.
Fortunately, we have been well represented in Irish politics throughout the decades, and our numbers have never been anything like the 122,000-strong Polish community in Ireland today.
