THERE are really two recipes in one here. The basic recipe is a particularly good version of the classic French potato dish gratin dauphinoise, which is delicious served with a simple roast or grill.

THIS is a variation on basic bread and butter pudding.

170g (6oz) white flour, preferably unbleached

Another great standby, crumpets can be made in minutes with ingredients you probably have already.

Recipe for Banana and Peanut Butter Smoothie

An important seminar for beekeepers will be held from 2pm at the Parkway Hotel, Dunmanway, tomorrow. The seminar will be opened by Trevor Sargent, Minister for Food and Horticulture, and comes in response to the loss of the many hundreds of hives last year in this area.

The winter vegetable is particularly good with goose, duck or pheasant.
