Hopefully most of us have developed ways in which to cope and adapt. But we must remember children don't have those skills yet. 

A few days ago my daughter and I had an absolute meltdown, both of us, over piano practice. It was a battle of wills and really rather unpleasant.

I know it is only mid-November and in every other year of my existence, I would not mention or think of the C-word until December.

We need to help our children learn how to honour secrets and earn trust but also to always have confidence that they can in turn trust their parents with any information

In many ways the more you talk about trauma, they can become just words. It is when you see the pictures that the memories can overwhelm you.

I would consider myself a minimalist and to be honest, I find clutter stressful. I think this stems from a few things. The house where we grew up in Canada was big, but that was typical in North America.
