After spending several weeks testing the OneSonic StudioPro over-ear headphones, I’ve come away impressed by how much performance they deliver for the price. They mix stylish looks, roomy sound, long battery life and capable noise cancellation into a package that feels built for everyday listening.

Design

The StudioPro has a solid aluminium build, with machined metal ear cups featuring a precise perforated pattern that looks lifted from a high-end speaker, and a smooth touch-sensitive black disc in the centre to keep things clean and modern. Everything feels carefully engineered, from the cool metal finish to the seamless curve of the headband arm.

The soft cushioning on the ear pads and headband provides a comfortable contrast to the sturdy metal exterior, making them feel luxurious to wear.

The included hardshell carry case feels closer to what you’d expect from a luxury headphone brand. The zips glide open cleanly, the headphones fold in neatly, and there’s even a small internal compartment for the charging and audio cables.

I’m also a fan of the fact that the earcups rotate flat and fold inwards, making the overall footprint much smaller for travelling. Taken together, OneSonic has nailed a design that’s both stylish and practical.

Comfort and fit

Despite being slightly smaller than I’d like, the ear cushions are soft and comfortable and slot over the ears with minimal fuss. I found the headband’s clamping force to be on the firmer side, but in a positive way. It gives the headphones a secure fit that’s unlikely to loosen suddenly, and as with most over-ear designs, this will gently relax with time.

During longer listening sessions, heat build-up was minimal, and the lightweight frame helped keep fatigue at bay. Overall, comfort is excellent and well above what I expected at this price level.

Features

You get Bluetooth 5.4 for fast connection speeds, reliable stability and low-latency listening. Playback and calls are controlled through physical buttons on the earcup, and the touch sensor lets you toggle ANC and transparency mode on the fly.

There’s also support for voice assistants, an optional 3.5mm wired connection, and hybrid active noise cancellation that can reduce background noise by up to 33dB. It isn’t trying to be overloaded with features; it focuses instead on delivering essentials that work consistently.

What I really like about the StudioPro is the option to use a 3.5 mm cable. It sounds simple, but it makes a big difference. If the battery dies, you can plug in and keep going. The wired connection also eliminates lag, so movies and games feel more in sync. And to my ears, when I plugged them into my digital audio player to listen to lossless files, the sound had a slight boost because it was not relying on lossy Bluetooth compression.

Battery life

OneSonic promises up to 40 hours of playback with ANC off and around 25 with it enabled. In my testing, those figures held. While not quite class-leading, 40 hours is still excellent and more than enough to last through several days of commuting, working or travelling before needing to recharge.

USB-C charging takes under three hours from empty, and the headphones maintain their performance well as the battery drops, with no noticeable change in sound or ANC strength.

Companion app

There isn’t one, and this is both a blessing and a limitation. On the positive side, everything works out of the box with no setup screens, no account required and no hidden menus. For users who want plug-and-play hardware, this simplicity will be refreshing.

However, no app also means no firmware updates over time, no EQ options and no advanced controls. What you hear on day one is what you’ll listen to for the life of the product. Given how much the headphones already offer, it’s not a deal-breaker, but it’s something to keep in mind.

Sound quality

The StudioPro’s punchy bass and wide soundstage make them excellent for genres from house to classical. Picture: Noel Campion.

The 40mm drivers deliver a sound signature that leans towards bass lovers, with punchy lows, rich texture, and plenty of energy across electronic, house, metal, and hip-hop tracks. Yet despite that emphasis, the midrange remains clean, and vocals stay clear and forward.

What surprised me most was the width of the soundstage for closed-back headphones. Classical pieces and acoustic tracks feel open and layered, with instruments clearly separated rather than blended. There’s great clarity throughout the frequency range, and the StudioPro avoids the muddy, bloated bass that cheaper headphones often suffer from.

Hybrid ANC does a solid job of cutting out background noise. It isn’t class-leading, but it knocks down chatter, hum, and general distractions enough to keep you immersed, especially once the music starts. Transparency mode is also pretty good and comes in handy for hearing announcements or holding quick conversations.

Verdict

The OneSonic StudioPro delivers impressive sound, solid ANC and premium design at a compelling price. While the lack of an app limits customisation, the comfort, clarity and strong battery life make them an excellent everyday pair of over-ears. As always, it's great to see a quality product at an affordable price from an Irish brand like OneSonic. Highly recommended.
