If you’re tired of food going off too quickly or your fridge smelling less than fresh, the new Vitesy Shelfy might just be the solution. This clever little smart device uses advanced air purification to extend food life, eliminate odours and reduce waste, saving both money and the planet. The upgraded Shelfy features improved battery life, a new colour option, and blue LED lighting, which enhance photocatalysis.

The upgraded Shelfy is a compact, stylish device that clips neatly onto a fridge shelf or door. The design remains clean and minimalist, with a new blue LED light that not only looks modern but also boosts the efficiency of the photocatalytic cleaning process.

It’s available in a new colour option, and the build feels solid and well-made, with sustainable materials and zero-glue construction. Charging is now done via USB-C, and thanks to the improved battery, I easily got three weeks of use per charge.

At just over 10cm wide, it doesn’t take up much space, and after a week or so, it’s easy to forget it’s even there, until you open the fridge and notice how much fresher everything smells.

The Vitesy Shelfy uses photocatalytic oxidation to remove bacteria, odours, and ethylene gas, the culprit behind fruit and veg ripening too quickly. According to Vitesy, it can reduce bacteria by up to 97.5% in just 10 minutes and cut odours by around 80%.

The device doesn’t need filter replacements, thanks to its washable ceramic-coated filter, which I simply rinsed under the tap once every couple of weeks. There are three operating modes, Eco, Crisper, and Performance, which you can switch between depending on the placement.

Integration with the Vitesy Hub app adds smart functionality, letting you monitor fridge temperature, door openings, and food freshness. It also reminds you when to wash the filter and do a full fridge cleaning.

It works with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, making it easy to control or check status hands-free.

Performance and real-world use

After using it for a few weeks in my fridge, I noticed an improvement in freshness. Cheese and fruit kept longer, and lingering odours disappeared within hours. It’s especially effective in drawers or smaller compartments.

While it doesn’t perform miracles on already-expired food, it definitely slows down spoilage and helps keep things crisp for longer. I also appreciated that it worked quietly and didn’t add any noticeable heat or vibration.

Charging the Vitesy Shelfy takes between 7 and 15 hours, depending on conditions, and that’s roughly the same for both the original and updated versions. The new model does have a more efficient battery and charging cycle, so it spends less time plugged in overall. You’ll need a charger rated at least 15W (5V⎓3A) to get the quickest charge, though using anything more powerful won’t speed things up. One thing to note is that charging must be done outside the fridge, so it won’t be purifying the air while it’s plugged in.

Verdict

The upgraded Vitesy Shelfy is an eco-smart, low-maintenance fridge gadget that extends food freshness while keeping odours under control. It’s simple, sustainable, and surprisingly effective — a minor upgrade with a big impact.
