The GameSir X4 Aileron Bluetooth controller is a sleek and versatile gaming accessory for Android mobile gamers. The controller features a unique two-piece design that magnetically joins together, allowing for compact storage when not in use. The ergonomic design makes it an excellent choice for gamers who value portability and performance.

The X4 Aileron has rubber grips that ensure a comfortable and secure hold during intense gaming sessions. It includes back paddles, which provide additional customisable controls, dual shoulder triggers, and analogue joysticks. Thanks to Hall effect sensors that can’t wear or drift like traditional ones, the X4 Aileron delivers precise control and responsiveness.
The controller is compatible with phones ranging from 68mm to 95mm wide and up to 12.5mm thick, making it suitable for a wide range of devices. However, after testing the X4 with several phones, some with large camera bumps caused the left sliding clip not to secure over the front of the phone fully. While the controller still functions properly, this issue could be better and may affect the overall stability of certain phones.
The controller has two separate sides, and unlike adjustable phone controllers, there isn’t much pressure required to separate them. However, it can be annoying if you accidentally pull them apart in the middle of a game and cause the controller to disconnect. It comes with self-adhesive anti-slip pads that help a little in this regard, but it’s a feature of the two-piece design.
The X4 also accommodates phone coolers, ensuring your device remains cool during extended gaming sessions.

The analogue joysticks are surrounded by customisable RGB lighting, adding a touch of personal flair to your gaming setup. Still, if you don’t like it or want to save on the controllers' battery, you can turn them off altogether.
The controller comes in a stylish travel case with a red carry strap and zipper. The inside is covered with black fabric and has moulded padding to fit the controller perfectly. There is also a section for the included extra joysticks and an eight-facet D-pad.

The X4 Aileron boasts tactile, cushioned buttons that offer a satisfying and responsive feel. This, combined with the controller's high-quality construction, should ensure durability and longevity. The two-piece design, when joined, forms a compact and cohesive unit, making it easy to transport and store.
I love the anti-friction glide rings, which enhance control and allow for smooth and precise movements. This is particularly beneficial for complex manoeuvres in fast-paced games.
The controller's ultra-responsive Bluetooth connection ensures minimal latency, crucial for competitive gaming, where every millisecond counts.
As a Bluetooth controller, the X4 Aileron has an internal battery that can be charged via the USB-C port on the left controller. However, pass-through charging is not supported since your phone's USB-C port is covered. This might be a deal-breaker for those who play battery-intensive games, as there is no way to charge the phone while playing.
The X4 Aileron feels comfortable to use, and I experienced no hand fatigue during extended gaming sessions. As an Xbox-certified controller, it works seamlessly with Xbox GamePass Ultimate (a one-month free voucher is included in the box). Of course, it also works with any controller-compatible Android game, but games that don’t support controllers will require a few workarounds to enable mapping of the touch controls.

Customisation is a key feature of the X4 Aileron, making it a versatile tool for all types of gamers. The controller includes e-sport-level microswitch buttons designed to withstand up to 5 million clicks, ensuring durability and responsiveness. The face buttons, bumpers, and D-pad perfectly balance responsiveness and durability, making them ideal for intense gaming sessions. The dual trigger options allow gamers to switch between analogue and hair triggers, catering to different gaming styles and preferences.
The X4 Aileron also features software customisation, such as interchangeable ABXY buttons (Switch or Xbox), thumbsticks, and D-pads, to personalise the controller to suit your needs.

The controller has a multi-function M button to easily access settings, such as adjusting trigger modes, RGB brightness, lighting effects, volume, and key values on the fly. It’s great to be able to change these settings during gameplay for quick and easy access, enhancing the overall gaming experience.
The GameSir app provides extensive options for the controller, including firmware updates, joystick calibration and trigger dead zones.
The GameSir X4 Aileron's innovative compact design, ultra-responsive performance, and extensive customisation options make it an attractive option for mobile gamers.
