The HP All-in-One 24 boasts an attractive, compact design. The PC has a stylish white case with a matching keyboard and mouse. Thin bezels frame three sides of the screen, with a wider speaker bar running the width of the system below it. The back panel is white textured plastic splattered with subtle flecks of grey. Despite being made of plastic, the chassis feels firm and rigid.

The metal stand comes in two parts consisting of a oval-shaped base with a fabric on top and a vertical mount that connects to the base with a tool-less screw. The mount connects to the monitor at the back with a simple push; no tools are required. The stand allows for tilt and height adjustments but no swivel or rotation.

The pop-up built-in webcam offers excellent features, delivering crisp 1080p resolution and featuring IR face recognition for secure Windows Hello logins. It provides convenience without compromising privacy because you can push it back into the monitor's frame when it’s not in use. Though some noise is present in the images, it's significantly less than you’d get from a 720p camera.

Ports and accessories

There’s a decent selection of ports around the back, including one USB Type-C (5Gbps), two USB Type-A (5Gbps), two USB 2.0 Type-A, one headphone/microphone combo and one RJ-45 1000GbE LAN port. You also get a HDMI 1.4 port, which you can use for an external monitor or TV.

WiFi 6 is supported along with Bluetooth 5.3. The mouse and keyboard have a wireless dongle, so one of the USB-A ports will be used. It is great to see wireless accessories rather than wired ones, but they are low-quality. Writing my review with the keyboard wasn’t the best experience, but if you’re a casual user, it shouldn’t be an issue.

Display and audio

The HP All-in-One 24 sports a 23.8-inch screen with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. It has an antiglare finish, which reduces reflections. While adequate for casual web browsing and video watching, the display's 250 nits of brightness isn’t ideal if you intend to use it in a brightly lit room.

Using my Datacolor SpyderX Elite colourimeter sensor, I recorded sRGB at 99%, Adobe RGB at 77% and P3 at 81%. These values fall well within the acceptable range for an average monitor while not being accurate enough for serious colour work. I measured a peak brightness of 296 nits in the centre of the monitor, which is above the advertised 250 nits. However, brightness uniformity in my review unit varied to as low as 265 nits on the sides. Overall, the display is good enough for home use, and you can hook up an external monitor with better accuracy if that’s something you need.

Unfortunately, the audio quality falls short of expectations. Equipped with 2-watt stereo speakers, the All-in-One 24 delivers audio output akin to an average laptop — tinny and muddy, lacking the depth necessary for an immersive experience.

Performance

The Ryzen 5 is a processor capable of handling general office tasks and light gaming. It’s also energy-efficient and operates quietly with little or no fan noise.

While this might be an ideal and stylish PC for the home, it isn’t a good option for gaming. The onboard graphics are fine for everyday tasks, but even on older games like Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Borderlands 3, I could only manage an average of 11fps with a low graphics preset.

Verdict

The HP All-in-One 24 is a budget option with good performance for general tasks but limited gaming performance. While the 1080p display has good colour accuracy, it's worth noting that its off-screen viewing angles leave room for improvement. This means the display performs best when viewed head-on but loses some clarity and colour accuracy when viewed from the side. The 27-inch version costs more but offers a larger, slightly brighter display and more RAM.
