Responding to valuable customer feedback, the latest version of the Runner Diver 2 Bluetooth has been upgraded to Bluetooth 5.3, delivering an even smoother and more efficient connection. Not stopping there, the integrated silicone case ensures durability and protection, making these swimming headphones a solid investment for those who love to take a dip in icy seas or other aquatic exploits.

Bone conduction open-ear design

The Runner Diver 2 employs advanced bone conduction technology, delivering audio through the cheekbone instead of the air. This ensures authentic sound and keeps you connected to your surroundings — an ideal choice for outdoor sports enthusiasts. The open-ear design reduces sound leakage by 90%, providing a comfortable and private listening experience. While testing this in the office, the person next to me didn’t hear what I was listening to unless they came next to me. However, this might be an issue if you’re in a quiet office, but this is a non-issue while using them as intended for outdoor use.

I’m not a swimmer, but for those who love to take their music to the water, the Runner Diver 2 has a built-in music player, allowing you to preload your favourite tunes onto the headphones. Whether you're taking a dip, going for a walk, or heading out for a run, you can leave your phone behind. A simple triple-click of the power/mode button seamlessly switches the headphones to MP3 mode, offering freedom from mobile phones with its 32GB internal memory.

Of course, you’ll need audio files, but copying the files onto the headphones couldn’t be easier. Simply attach the magnetic charging cable and plug them into your computer. Then, open the headphones folder on your PC or Mac to copy the files. Naenka includes three sample music files on the 32GB of storage – two .flac and one .mp3 audio formats. The MP3 mode supports a wider range of file formats with sequential or random playback options.

Battery performance

For those who engage in extended sports activities, the Runner Diver 2 comes with impressive battery stamina. Thanks to the 180mAh battery, these running headphones boast a 10-hour playtime at 60% volume, ensuring they keep up with your workout sessions. There is no auto power off. Instead, you get 180 standby and 15 hours of talk time.

The magnetic fast charging technology allows for a full charge in just 1.5 hours, making them ready for action whenever you are.

Connectivity

The Runner Diver 2 features Bluetooth 5.3, which enables multipoint pairing, ensuring compatibility with various devices, including iOS and Android. This is a really great feature, which should be the standard on all headphones. It connects quickly and is stable. However, I found a small lipsync delay while watching YouTube videos.

Sound quality and features

Equipped with the OT leakage reduction 3.0 technology, the Runner Diver 2 offer less vibration and increased comfort. The 16mm dynamic vibrator speaker enhances the overall sound quality with rich bass, fine mid-to-treble tones, and impressive penetrating power. The sound quality is excellent for open headphones, and the technology keeps improving. Compared to similar headphones I reviewed a few years ago, the new Runner Diver 2 are light years ahead in sound quality, especially bass.

I did feel vibrations, especially at louder volumes, but you soon get used to it. The extra comfort you get from not having something poked into your ear canal more than makes up for any minor vibrations.

Verdict

The Naenka Runner Diver 2 sets a new standard for swimming headphones. With a focus on upgraded features, enhanced playtime, and cutting-edge bone conduction technology, these headphones offer a seamless blend of innovation and functionality.
