Pokemon is arguably bigger than it has ever been, but millennials seem to have cooled on the smartphone game and stopped wandering into the streets.

But that doesn’t mean the money men are going to stop trying to make money out of it just yet.

That's why the live-action Pokemon movie is moving ahead at full steam, and it seems it has found it’s director.

It turns out Goosebumps director Rob Letterman will helm the picture with a script coming from Nicole Perlman of Guardians of the Galaxy and Alex Hirsch of Gravity Falls.

The story is said to be based on the Detective Pikachu video game which follows a Pikachu possessing the ability to talk and some street smarts partnered with a boy called Tim Goodman as the pair go on adventures together solving mysteries.

Letterman must be impressing someone as it is said he too will direct a Dungeons and Dragons film also.

No release date has yet been announced for the Pokemon film.
