Firewatch game is becoming a movie

It's a sublimely written adventure with stunning visuals and a low key style that helps to draw you into the slowly unfolding events. And now it's coming to the big screen.

The developers at Campo Santo have formed a deal with movie production company Good Universe, who have worked on the likes of Last Vegas, Oldboy (the remake), The Night Before, Bad Neighbours and recent horror hit Don't Breathe.

The deal will see the two companies working together on multiple projects but first up will be an adaptation of Firewatch. It's a very unique title in terms of its look and the rather oblique nature of its storytelling, actually not revealing how many of the characters in the piece even look.

As such it's going to be extremely challenging to really translate to a new experience with the interaction required in a video game, while also preserving some sense of the highly visual nature of the game and the compelling but very slow moving story.

More as we get it.
