Star Wars fans had drones flying over the set in London during the filming of Star Wars Episode VII. Disney has a plan to avoid a repeat of that.

Disney to use drones to prevent filming of Star Wars Episode VIII

Considering the excitement and furore surrounding Star Wars Episode VII, it comes as no surprise to hear that some members of the public sent drones skywards to record footage from the set. Disney looks set to fight back with drones of its own with production underway on Star Wars: Episode VIII.

Disney, according to Mos Croatia (via Den of Geek), has gathered a special team that will use drones to take down prying eyes in the skies. This team, backed up by around 600 guards, should ensure that there won’t be any unwanted visitors when the movie heads to Dubrovnik in Croatia for location work.

It would be fitting if Disney’s drones looked like X-Wings…although that might cause more people to take the chance to send their drones around the set; footage of a drone being shot down by an X-Wing could be even more interesting than anything they could capture of the set from that height.

Star Wars Episode VIII will arrive in cinemas in December 2017.
