League of Legends is killing off Dominion mode

League of Legends developer Riot Games is retiring Dominion mode as so few people play it.

League of Legends is killing off Dominion mode

In an open and honest blog post, Riot Games revealed that less than 0.5% of players actively play Dominion mode. It goes on to say that some of that population is made up of bots.

Riot admits that it hasn't been supporting Dominion mode. This has led to a vicious cycle of a low player base leading to a lack of support, which in turn leads to bugs and imbalances, which then further reduces the playing population.

Those who stuck with Dominion mode are to be rewarded for their persistence and skill. An exclusive Summoner Icon is to be awarded to players who have racked up 100 wins in matchmade Dominion games.

Dominion will no longer be playable after February 22nd, so get those last games in for old time's sake.
