VIDEO: Crashing drone almost wipes out competitive skier

Competitive skiers work and train incredibly hard knowing that just one mistake could spell the end of their race. Now they have to account for drones falling from the sky too!

VIDEO: Crashing drone almost wipes out competitive skier

Marcel Hirscher, a four-time reigning World Cup overall champion skier, was beginning his second run during a slalom race in Madonna di Campiglio, Italy when a drone recording the race crashed. As you can see from the video, it was a bit close for comfort.

It doesn't seem like the incident broke Hirscher's rhythm and he went on to claim second. But he wasn't too amused by the near miss. "This is horrible," Hirscher told the Associated Press. "This can never happen again. This can be a serious injury."

We may not see the recorded video from the drone's perspective, but the broadcasted video is as fascinating as it is terrifying.
