In Irish cinemas November 27th
With the summer blockbuster season far behind us, it's now time to turn our attention to that other important part of the movie calendar - awards season. Heavy hitting dramas are going to be all over your cinema screens from now until the end of the year, so it's time to check out some amazing performances from stars like Johnny Depp and Cate Blanchett, who might just be picking up some awards in 2016.
Johnny Depp plays Whitey Bulger, a Boston-based gangster who became one of the most wanted men in America during his rise to power. It's an incredible central performance and we're definitely going to hear Oscar buzz. Also starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Joel Edgerton and Kevin Bacon.
Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara star in this critically acclaimed drama which is set in New York in the 1950s. Two women meet by chance and form an instant connection that's at odds with their own lives and the politics of the time. Don't be surprised to hear a lot more about Carol as awards season approaches.
Steven Spielberg returns with his first feature since 2012's Lincoln, and it's another historical story - this time based on a 1960 incident where an American lawyer worked to negotiate the exchange of a Russian spy for one of their own. Tom Hanks is the lead, but this film belongs to the immense talent of Mark Rylance as Rudolf Abel.
For the first time ever, Pixar is releasing two films in the same year - and while it wasn't planned this way (The Good Dinosaur had many production issues) it's looking like another classic. Step into a world where the dinosaurs were never wiped out and what happens when one young terrible lizard gets separated from his loving family and finds a new human friend.
