Irish VFX and Animation Summit brings free talks to Dublin
Now in its third year, the event is all about bringing world leaders in this space together to talk about their high profile work in a number of open sessions and workshops. And best of all, it's entirely free.
The event is organised in partnership with the Animation Skillnet and Screen Training Ireland and gives filmmakers and fans alike the chance to mix with some of the leaders in the fields of animation and visual effects. For 2015, Pixar president Jim Morris will be giving a highly anticipated keynote speech alongside the first Irish screening of the studios new film The Good Dinosaur.
You'll also hear from Neil Weatherly, who most recently worked on the effects for Ridley Scott's blockbusting The Martian. The accomplished Kevin Baillie will also be present - his first job was on The Phantom Menace back in 1999 and he's since gone on to work on Hellboy, Superman Returns, Transformers, Dark of the Moon, Star Trek Into Darkness, Flight and The Walk.
Other artists over the weekend will discuss their work on special effects showcases like Avengers Age of Ultron, Ex-Machina and many more.
Here's a vide from last year's event with Double Negative's Eugenie Von Tunzelmann, who was part of the team behind Interstellar.
Event co-founder Laura Livingstone had this to say:
The event is free but ticketed and you can get more information here. All talks will be held at The Foundry at Google, which is on Barrow Street, Dublin 4.
