Facebook regularly getting over a billion users a day

Back in August, Facebook made a big announcement that it had received more than a billion unique users in a single day. Just a few weeks later, that's old hat.

Facebook regularly getting over a billion users a day

In September, the average number of users on Facebook every day was over one billion. That's around one seventh of the entire population of the world using one website over 24 hours to connect and share and post pictures of their dinners. Take into account the large numbers of people in countries without proper internet access and the aged or very young who aren't involved in social media and it becomes a massive percentage of the global connected population.

This info comes from an earning call with CEO Mark Zuckerberg where he confirmed the growth of the site year on year and month on month. Mr Z says that the future for Facebook lies in video, with the social media service set to become a platform for video content online, potentially rivalling the likes of YouTube. Their network also includes Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram, with billions of photos shared between users every month.
