Ed Sheeran's Thinking Out Loud first to hit half a billion plays on Spotify

Who doesn't love a bit of Ed Sheeran? Thanks to Thinking Out Loud, he's become the first artist to break the half a billion plays on Spotify on a single song.

Sheeran said that he was "chuffed" with the news. He added, "Thanks to all the people who use this as a wedding song, soundtrack to a date, and as a way to woo someone into a Netflix-and-chill situation." Oh, Ed.

Spotify released a variety of facts and figures to celebrate this accomplishment, calling it the 'Sheerio' Index. One in four Spotify users listen to Ed Sheeran at least once a month. Then again, his songs are included on about 38 million playlists, so good luck avoiding him.
