Ed Sheeran's Thinking Out Loud first to hit half a billion plays on Spotify

Who doesn't love a bit of Ed Sheeran? Thanks to Thinking Out Loud, he's become the first artist to break the half a billion plays on Spotify on a single song.

Sheeran said that he was "chuffed" with the news. He added, "Thanks to all the people who use this as a wedding song, soundtrack to a date, and as a way to woo someone into a Netflix-and-chill situation." Oh, Ed.

Spotify released a variety of facts and figures to celebrate this accomplishment, calling it the 'Sheerio' Index. One in four Spotify users listen to Ed Sheeran at least once a month. Then again, his songs are included on about 38 million playlists, so good luck avoiding him.

Sheeran is the second-most streamed artist on Spotify with 2.9 billion plays. Eminem holds the accolade as the most streamed artist.

As you might expect, Sheeran is most popular in the U.K., but Denmark has the highest concentration of Sheeran listeners.
