Tailtalk clues pet owners into their dog's emotions

Ever look at your dog and wonder how they’re feeling? Tailtalk, which is described by DogStar as the “world’s first dog emotion sensor,” is designed to make it easy to tell.

The device itself is a Fitbit-like wearable that’s placed on your dog’s tail to analyse its every movement and reveal your dog’s emotion. Its video explains that the direction a dog wags its tail indicates its mood.

An app is linked to the device, so you can get updates on the fly. It even works if you’re not in the vicinity of your dog. It showcases how your dog is feeling on an easily understood graph, while there’s also a dashboard showing a dog’s “happiness overview”, “emotional graph” and “emotional diary.”

Tailtalk’s promo video gives the example of the app alerting the owner when the dog walker takes custody of her pet, but we wouldn’t be so quick to ring while they’re still out with our dog.

Apparently, dogs don’t mind this being attached to their tails. Chief operation officer Mike Karp revealed, “We have spent a lot of time testing that and finding that most dogs think about it for about 30 seconds before moving on.”

A crowdfunding campaign is currently underway on Indiegogo seeking $100,000. It has raised just over $30,000 already with Tailtalk wearables available for $99.
