Irish films set for BFI Film Festival

Four top Irish films will be at the BFI London Film Festival which runs from the 7th to the 18th of October 2015.

The Lobster, 11 Minutes, Room and Brooklyn will all be screening at the fest - showing the range of Irish talent on offer this year.

The Lobster is a crazy sci-fi-ish tale directed by Dogtooth helmer Yorgos Lanthimos which is about a world where a man has to find his mate or he'll get turned into an animal. Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz star. And it looks really weird - some NSFW language.

11 Minutes comes from director Jerzy Skolimowski and tells the story of an interconnected group of people who all witness a singular event and the way their lives unravel from that point. Starring Game of Thrones' Richard Dormer.

Room is the latest film by Lenny Abrahamson and is adapted from Emma Donoghue's emotional novel - she also penned the screenplay. With Brie Larson as a woman trapped in a strange world with her small son, it's looking like a totally unique experience.

And Brooklyn unites two of Ireland's biggest stars - Saoirse Ronan and Domhnall Gleeson, who is about to ignite as part of the cast of Star Wars the Force Awakens. It's a love story set in Ireland and the US as a woman tries to decide between her two lives. Directed by John Crowley and from the novel by Colm Toibin.

Expect plenty of buzz for these feted local features, with Room getting its second outing just after a premiere at TIFF in September.
