Deus Ex Mankind Divided release date confirmed

Deus Ex Mankind Divided is already looking like a major game of the year contender for 2016, and thankfully we now know exactly when we'll get to play it.

Square Enix has confirmed that the game will arrive on Xbox One, PS4 and PC on the 23rd of February 2016 - that's less than six months away!

The news comes from an annoucement about the pre-order bonuses available to early investors in their copy of the game. And it's a bit of a complicated setup, including different tiers of extras depending on how much you spend. The kicker here is that tiers will only be unlocked as people pre-order and fill in their details. If loads of folks get on board with the program you'll get four additional extras and the final one releases the game early.

Here's a video explanation.

As much as it's good to get players feeling like they're involved in the run up to the release this whole campaign feels a bit muddled to me. In order to get involved you have to pre-order the game somewhere else, find a code, create an account and then get onto the system. Then you have to choose your first reward and... hope that everyone else has the patience to do the same?

Of course they will be missing out on some stuff if they don't do this, and hopefully the new constumes and digital extras will be enough to draw people in. But user engagement is a funny old business and there's absolutely no guarantee. And the pre-order option isn't even available on Steam yet. Which seems like a bit of an error.

Still there's enough good news in knowing the release date, and pre-order if you feel so inclined.

Deus Ex Mankind Divided releases on PS4, Xbox One and PC from the 23rd of February 2016.
