VIDEO: See the opening scene of new Fear the Walking Dead TV show

The Walking Dead on AMC is one of the biggest TV successes of the last few years, and now there’s even more to look forward to with a new spin off show.

Fear the Walking Dead takes us back to the beginning of the zombie outbreak which brought the world low.

That means we get to witness the seriously bad stuff which went down while Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) was in his coma.

To get you ready for this new angle, AMC has released the first three minutes of episode one. The scene features Frank Dillane and he’s not having a great time.

If this is in fact the very beginning of the show it certainly starts with the stuff that people appear to want - zombie stuff basically - but it does feel like a missed opportunity to show the world before the fall, the normal everyday routine which would act as a major contrast to everything we’ve seen from this universe to date.

This new take will revolve around a fractured family who finds themselves trying to hold on in a world that’s overrun by undead folks who just really want to snack on their face.

The cast includes Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis, Dillane, Alycia Debnam-Carey and more.

AMC has already renewed the series for an expanded second run of episodes set for 2016 so they’ve obviously got a lot of faith in the undead for the next few years.

Fear the Walking Dead debuts on AMC in the US on August 23, 2015.
