VIDEO: The Good Dinosaur is Pixar's next classic
2015 is a pretty important year in the world of cinema, its the first time we're getting two Pixar movies with less than a year in between. That is to say both two of these films release in the States in the same calendar year but not in Ireland until 2016.... You know what we mean!
And so, after the triumph of Inside Out, say hello to The Good Dinosaur.
The set up is a pure and simple 'What If' dealing with a world populated by dinosaurs. And that's all you really get to know in this trailer which is more about exploring the glorious visuals that show just what Pixar can do with their stylised worlds.
This film has actually been in the works for a long time, with a few fairly public changes along the way. The voice cast has been tweaked a couple of times and the entire concept has undergone extensive rewrites and trims. At one point, the main dino character (that's the green one - Arlo) was supposed to be part of a race of farming creatures, explaining how they all live and work together with also eating eachother.
That's mostly gone now in favour of a long journey home kind of adventure. Also, the speaking voice you're hearing in the trailer belongs to the dinosaur, they're all going to be very chatty in the finished film. That's all but hidden in the trailer at the moment, though we're not totally sure why, but it does let the visual storytelling stand on its own. Which is something Pixar has great affinity for.
There have been a lot of delays so far, but we're looking forward to seeing this one in cinemas.
