Ben Affleck will direct a standalone Batman movie

We’ll first see how Ben Affleck fares as Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but he has more planned for the character.

Affleck plans to direct, and star in, a standalone Batman film. Apparently, he’s almost finished scripting it with DC Comics writer Geoff Johns.

We’re unlikely to see this standalone film for some time. Batman v Superman will be his character’s first appearance and that’s due in 2016. He must also direct his adaptation of the Dennis Lehane novel Live by Night, which will be his next project.

Affleck will reprise the role of Batman for the two-parter Justice League, which like Dawn of Justice will have Zack Snyder directing.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will hit cinemas on March 25th, 2016.
