Matt Reeves, director of 2014's Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, has taken over as director for the upcoming Batman film starring Ben Affleck.

DC has had a far rockier start to its cinematic universe compared to Marvel, both commercially and critically.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is off Sandman. This pretty bitter news came straight from the actor/director/creative whirlwind himself on Facebook:

We’ll first see how Ben Affleck fares as Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but he has more planned for the character.
