VIDEO: Speak six languages at this fridge and get free beer

There's this giant red fridge, sitting like a cheery monolith in the middle of a pedestrian square. It's locked but has a message to any passersby:

VIDEO: Speak six languages at this fridge and get free beer

"Say I Am Canadian to Open Fridge..."

And so the game begins...

This is a very cool promo for Molson Canadian beer which uses Google's real-time voice translation software to detect a specific greeting in any of the 40 languages it recognises. Just six are needed but the search shows off a number of things - the cosmopolitan nature of our urban areas, the sophistication of Google's software and how everyone can be brought together through the power of beer and free things.

It's a great concept, brilliantly demonstrated by the video. And the red fridge is going on tour! It's going to appearing in Toronto until the end of July. Now we're just hoping some polyglot doesn't turn up in the middle of the night and have a few too many on his own.
