Red Dead Redemption tops Xbox One backward compatibility poll

After a week of letting fans vote on Xbox 360 games for the Xbox One's back compatibility programme Red Dead Redemption is topping Microsoft’s poll.

Red Dead Redemption tops Xbox One backward compatibility poll

Rockstar’s Wild West adventure has racked up more than 54,000 votes in the past week. It has a 4,000 vote lead over Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Skyrim, Halo: Reach and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 round out the top five.

Xbox fans can vote for more than 1,500 Xbox 360 games on the official Xbox feedback site. You can search for a title or browse the most requested titles. The site also lists titles that are in progress or “closed.”

All of the titles in the “Closed” category are games that require a hardware accessory. As the site explains, “Because this solution is a software-only emulation, titles that require a hardware accessory are not part of this feature.”

Popularity does not necessarily guarantee that a game will become backward compatible. Ultimately, the game’s publisher will have to give the green light.

Xbox One will implement backward compatibility fully this autumn with more than 100 titles available at launch.
