VIDEO: The Rock goes on a Rampage - new video game movie

The Rock is doing pretty well this year already, with parts in San Andreas and the massively popular Furious 7. But that doesn't mean he's slowing down, with plenty of new projects on the horizon.

And it looks like he's picked up another one, this time he's set for Rampage. It's a very loose adaptation of an 80s arcade game that seems to be more based on using the name and taking inspiration from the visuals than anything else.

The 1986 original was about three humans who are mutated into huge monsters - George is a big gorilla, Lizzie is a big lizard and Ralph is a big werewolf. Up to three players could work together at the same time to destroy cities all over the United States, taking down buildings, throwing stuff and killing humans and soldiers. It looked like this.

The big screen version probably won't be quite as bloodthirsty but it's likely to still revolve around three rampaging monsters. Disappointingly, Johnson won't be one of those - instead he'll be a good guy on the ground battling to save humanity. Which is a lot more boring than destroying buildings.

The film has been around for awhile, with different people attached and little in the way of progress. But now that The Rock is on board as well as producer Beau Flynn its likely to pick up some momentum.

Remember the last time Senor Rock starred in a videogame adaptation? We actually kinda liked Doom...

There's no director or release date confirmed yet for Rampage, more as we get it.
