Next iPhone could be slightly chunkier

While the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus are likely to look a lot like the current crop, there may be some subtle changes.

Next iPhone could be slightly chunkier

Apparently, the iPhone 6S will be a whole 0.2mm thicker than the current iPhone 6. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities details the change, which may accommodate a Force Touch display. The new display is mentioned by the research note and has been rumoured in recent weeks.

Force Touch technology, which is currently utilised in the Apple Watch, allows a device to tell the difference between a light tap and a stronger push and respond differently.

It’s also thought that the iPhone 6S will be slightly wider and 0.15mm taller than the iPhone 6. It’s unlikely that these changes will be overly noticeable. But it means that the iPhone 6S may not have a protruding camera lens, which would be a big change.

Kuo expects that the new handsets will feature a 12 megapixel camera, which would be a marked improvement, and will be made from stronger 7000 Series aluminium. He also believes that a rose gold model will be introduced, the current gold will become more of a yellow gold, and the space grey option will be darker.
