Samsung says that it’s aware of the issue and “takes emerging security threats very seriously.” It will be rolling out security policy updates in a few days. Samsung says that it will work with SwiftKey to “address potential risks going forward."

The vulnerability discovered could let hackers access a Samsung phone’s camera, read text messages, install apps and listen in to what you’re doing via the microphone. SwiftKey maintained that it wasn’t an easy thing to exploit, as it required a very particular set of circumstances and occurrences.

Others weren’t as sure. But at least Samsung phone owners can be reassured by the news that Samsung is aware of the issue, is working on a fix, and that smartphones from the Galaxy S4 and above are safe from the threat.
