Apple will continue releasing 16GB phones

Apple is known for sticking to its guns and plans to continue producing and releasing 16GB variants of the iPhone.

With all the apps and entertainment options available, a phone’s memory can fill up quite quickly. That’s why many were disappointed to hear that Apple was going to launch a 16GB version of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus alongside the 64GB and 128GB options.

Apple seems intent on sticking to this plan with the upcoming release of the iPhone 6S.

Apple's marketing executive Phil Schiller said that there are plenty of people who don’t need a lot of storage space thanks to facilities like cloud storage.

“The belief is more and more as we use iCloud services for documents and our photos and videos and music that perhaps the most price-conscious customers are able to live in an environment where they don't need gobs of local storage because these services are lightening the load,” he told The Talk Show podcast.

Schiller also spoke about the iPhone’s battery life. He said that Apple has to make trade-offs and that he believes the company has made the right choices. “If you want a product that's thicker with a bigger battery it's also heavier, more costly, takes longer to charge,” he explained.

Don’t expect a thicker iPhone to arrive later this year. It seems equally unlikely that Apple will abandon a 16GB variant of its upcoming flagship.
