Casual is the order of the day as #Sockies15 promises a social media sugar rush
The awards, taking place Wednesday June 3, reflect the diversity and talent of the marketing field throughout Ireland with particular emphasis being placed on social media.
There are a range of categories for Facebook, Twitter and Mobile with this, the fifth year of the awards, seeing the introduction of new categories such as non-profit and media organisation as well as a popular category for new social networks such as Tinder, Snapchat and Vine.
We here at the Irish Examiner have been nominated in two categories, the use of Facebook by a media organisation and the best business Twitter account (in-house run).

According to event organiser, Damien Mulley, the awards has the 'highest sugar content of any other awards show in Ireland with more sweets per seat than anyone else.'
“This isn’t just an awards show, this is a celebration and a party for all those working hard in digital in Ireland” he added.
Organisers are expecting an attendance of around 500 people, making it the biggest gathering in the awards five year history.

MC on the night is 2FM presenter Rick O'Shea, who is well up for all the calamity we can expect from the night.
"I'm astonished they're letting an event like ours into a classy joint like the RDS particularly after all the eye injuries I inflicted with Curly Wurlies last year.
"Please bring some form of eye protection".
