Irish director Jim Sheridan to receive Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2015 IFTA Awards
Sheridan's impressive career is to be honoured in style in 2015, with a Lifetime Achivement Award from the Irish Film and Television Academy. He will receive the honour at the 12 annual IFTA Awards on the 24th of May.Jim Sheridan follows in the footsteps of IFTA Academy Lifetime recipients such as Maureen O’Hara, David Kelly, George Morrison, Morgan O’Sullivan, John Boorman, Gay Byrne, Neil Jordan, Fionnula Flanagan and President Michel D. He is a master storyteller, bold and brilliant, whose skill and vision continues to inspire so many, and his constant support and nurturing of Irish creative talent is part of his ongoing legacy."Sheridan's other film work includes penning the script for Into the West and Some Mother's Son as well as helming Brothers and Get Rich or Die Tryin' in the Hollywood system. But for many it's still his work on My Left Foot which remains the most enduring, helping to introduce the world to the incredible talent of Daniel Day-Lewis and earning the actor his first of three Academy Awards.
