Nintendo will release first mobile game this year
In March, Nintendo announced a partnership with game publisher DeNA. Nintendo's CEO and president Satoru Iwata announced in an earnings call that Nintendo’s first mobile game will be developed with DeNA and released by the end of the year.He did not reveal what games are planned over the next few years. However, they will all be developed with mobile in mind. Iwata said, “We are going to carefully select appropriate IP and titles for our smart device deployment.”He stressed that quality is important. Iwata warned, “Even with highly popular IP, the odds of success are quite low if consumers cannot appreciate the quality of a game.”Nintendo, Iwata revealed, wants to show its commitment to the smart device business. He said that the company aims to make each of its five titles a hit and will “operate every one of them for a significant amount of time after their releases.”
