Apple’s decision to increase the size of its handsets was overshadowed by ‘bendgate.’ The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, as some users discovered, were prone to bending in pockets. And Apple is keen to ensure that it doesn’t happen again.Apple will reportedly use some new materials for the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus so that there won’t be a repeat. Taiwan's Economic Daily News suggests that Apple’s new handsets will use the same Series 7000 aluminium alloy that the Apple Watch uses. This is around 60% stronger than other aluminiums but is still lightweight.Bendgate was quite an embarrassment, and not only because of its name. Apple took a lot of flak over the whole ordeal. So, it doesn’t come as a huge shock that it would be eager to ensure it doesn’t happen again. This could be just speculation on the part of Economic Daily News, but Apple has been quite vocal about the merits of its aluminium alloy. We wouldn’t be surprised to see it used in more Apple products in the near future.Apple will reportedly use the stronger Series 7000 aluminium alloy that is used for the Apple Watch for the next generation of iPhone.
