Google may partner with LG and Huawei on Nexus 7
According to a report on Chinese social networking website Weibo, Google will work with a Chinese manufacturer on one of the two Nexus devices that it has planned this year. It goes on to say that LG will handle the high-end Nexus 7, while an unnamed Chinese manufacturer will work on the lower-spec device. So, what makes Huawei one of the frontrunners to work on the Nexus 7? Well, the source reveals that the manufacturer will either go for its own SoC inside the new Nexus or a Qualcomm version. Huawei has its own Hisilcon Kirin processor line-up, and is the only Chinese manufacturer we know of that has its own processor range.Of course, this is all speculation and early days in the rumour mill. The Nexus 6 launched in October last year, so we have a while to wait before we find out if LG and Huawei are the chosen partners for the next Nexus handset.
Google could be working with LG and Huawei on two Nexus 7 variants. LG may handle the high-end device, while Huawei will work on the lower-spec version.
