Here’s what Ireland searched for on Google in 2014

Google has released its 14th annual review of the billions of searches made in Ireland this year and, as always, it’s a unique perspective on modern Irish life.

Here’s what Ireland searched for on Google in 2014

2014 was the year we wanted to know absolutely everything about the World Cup, an Ice Queen and Kim Kardashian. Kim was the top trending person in Ireland - likely given a bump by her surprise Urish honeymoon and THAT magazine cover.

The World Cup topped the trending searches and the top news stories while Froxen was the most-searched for movie.

While we wanted to know about Game of Thrones, House of Cards and Eastenders and Corrie, nothing got outdid Peppa Pig which was top of the list of Top Trending TV shows

Garth Brooks - unsurprisingly - was one of our most-searched for names - topping the search, news, music artists and trending people lists.

The 'how to' searches are always enlightening - this year, irish people wanted to learn how to draw, closely followed by those who wanted to know how to shift - beating out the people who perhaps more romantically wanted to learn how to kiss.

And thanks to the Ice Bucket Challenge, people were interested in learning what ALS (Motor Neurone disease) was while the romantics among us wanted to know what love is.

Three greats passed away this year so it's no surprise Robin Williams, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Joan Rivers are high on their respective lists of top trending actor and top trending actress - which saw Jennifer Lawrence take the top spot. Laurence likely receiving an unwelcome boost from this year's photo hack scandal.
