Meteor teams up with TCM to offer customers latest text alert service
Meteor has teamed up with top media group Thomas Crosbie Media, the electronic publishing arm of Thomas Crosbie Holdings Limited, parent Company of the Irish Examiner, Sunday Business Post and 10 regional titles throughout the country, to offer breaking news and sports results services.
This is the second time that Meteor and TCM have teamed up to provide mobile services.
During the World Cup, TCM supplied Meteor with content for a range of World Cup Text Alerts, which included Goal Alerts and match results from different groups throughout the tournament. These alerts proved extremely popular with Meteor soccer fans in both the lead-up to and the duration of the World Cup. At 9c for each alert received, the Text Alerts Service from Meteor is currently the cheapest in the Irish market.
TCM will also provide Meteor with a wide range of content for WAP Services.
TCM’s chief of operations Angela Crowley, said; “TCM is successfully delivering breaking news to TV3’s Threetext, Esat BT websites and is very pleased now to have the opportunity to provide Meteor customers with the latest news and information of their choice via their mobile phone.” Thomas Crosbie Holdings managing director Anthony Dinan said: “we are looking forward to working with Meteor who are a very progressive company within the mobile communications market.”
Meteor director of corporate affairs Andrew Kelly said Text Alerts was designed to give customers whatever information they need, whenever they want it, allowing them to get as much as they can from their mobile phone on a daily basis.
“We were very happy with the success of our recent World Cup Text Alerts and are looking forward to working with TCM on an ongoing basis” he added.
Meteor has the highest SMS usage per customer in Ireland. Offering the cheapest SMS rate in the Irish market Meteor also is the first Irish network to offer flat rate texts of 9c per message to or from any country worldwide.
