Call for broadband issue to be addressed

THE Telecommunication and Internet Federation (TIF) has said in response to the publishing of the 11th Report on the Implementation of the Telecommunications Regulatory Package by the European Commission that the need to boost demand for broadband services in Ireland must be addressed through a new Irish market development plan.

TIF is calling for a reduction of the VAT rate on broadband services from 21% to 13.5% and the introduction of an SME broadband programme.
