Data centre hiring in Ireland has surged, with almost 5% of job postings now related to data centres, research from recruitment platform Indeed published on Thursday said.

Indeed said 4.9% of all job postings on Indeed in Ireland now mentions data centres. Ireland stood out among the 10 markets analysed by Indeed with data centre-related job postings jumping sharply in early 2026 and reaching 2.1 times the level observed in early 2020. The roles sought for data centres include IT infrastructure, operations and support, software development, management, installation and maintenance as well as project management.

Data centre hiring is increasing despite wider tech hiring is stagnant, with postings for other tech roles remain below their pre-pandemic levels.

“Data centre hiring is one of the few areas where we are seeing growth in tech-adjacent hiring at a time when wider tech postings remain under pressure. Ireland stands out particularly strongly, with nearly 5% of job postings now mentioning a data centre, roughly twice the share we have seen in recent years," said Indeed's Pawel Adrjan.

"Ireland’s data centre labour market is already more developed than in most of the other European markets we analysed. Jobseeker interest is particularly strong with data centre related searches accounting for a higher share of searches in Ireland than elsewhere in Europe, although it remains a specialist area with fewer searches than for other, larger occupations like retail or driving. The key question now is whether this momentum can be sustained as Europe’s data centre build-out gathers pace.”

The report from Indeed comes after the CSO said on Wednesday that Ireland's rate of unemployment stood at 5% in September, with 149,500 in September 2026, compared with 148,600 in August 2026. Unemployment has not breached the 5% mark since January 2022.

"Indeed’s Irish Job Postings Index shows that hiring demand remains stable following a period of decline," said Indeed senior economist Jack Kennedy.
