UK's economy narrowly avoids recession after flat growth

Output in the UK services sector declined by 0.1% which was offset by an increase in the construction sector of 0.1%.

Growth in the UK economy was flat during the months of July and September as the country narrowly avoided falling into recession, new data shows.

Data from the Office of National Statistics (ONS) shows that gross domestic product (GDP) during that period was shown to not have grown at all. Compared to the same period last year, GDP grew 0.6%.
