The Zuckerbergs purchased the 440-acre estate located on the banks of the River Blackwater in West Waterford in August. A spokesperson said Zuckerberg said he and his family were “excited to continue caring for this historic home and look forward to spending time in Ireland, where Meta maintains its international headquarters”.

The Property Price Register shows the sale price for the castle near the village of Knockanore in West Waterford was €51,171,155, with the date of sale listed as August 17.
Strancally Castle is a 30-minute drive from Youghal in East Cork. It is also located a short distance from Ballynatray House, the sprawling estate owned by fellow billionaire James Dyson. Strancally Castle is expected to act as a base for Mr Zuckerberg for work operations when in Ireland, with the country serving as the company's European headquarters. Meta employs approximately 1,500 people across 80 teams in Ireland.
Last month, the Zuckerbergs announced a donation of €150,000 to three local GAA clubs near Strancally Castle, with Shamrocks GAA in Knockanore, Tallow GAA in Tallow, and Lismore GAA in Lismore each to receive €50,000. The donations will be paid to the clubs over a two-year period, with each club receiving €25,000 per year.
