Gilroy leads new banking unit at EY Law Ireland

Cormac Gilroy brings 10 years’ experience to EY Law's new banking and finance practice; he will be based in EY’s Cork office

EY Law Ireland has appointed Cormac Gilroy to lead its newly established banking and finance practice.

He brings over 10 years’ experience and will be based in EY’s Cork office. Prior to joining EY, he represented leading domestic and international banks and non-bank lenders at Matheson, and also worked as legal counsel for Evara Ireland.

Cormac said: “I’m pleased to join EY Law Ireland at such an exciting time. EY’s combined legal, tax and advisory capabilities provide a compelling offering to clients, and I look forward to contributing to the growth of the Banking and Finance practice.” 

Mr Gilroy brings extensive experience advising lenders, borrowers and sponsors on a wide range of domestic and cross-border financing transactions. He has worked across both private practice and in-house legal roles, with particular expertise in the real estate and development sectors.

In his new role, Mr Gilroy will lead EY Law Ireland’s Banking and Finance practice, working with banks, alternative finance providers, corporate borrowers, investors, regulators, and sponsors across a broad range of financing transactions.

He will focus on advising clients on the structuring, negotiation and execution of complex financings, bringing a pragmatic, commercially focused approach to supporting clients’ strategic and operational objectives.

Working closely with colleagues across EY, the team will combine legal, tax and advisory expertise to deliver integrated, multidisciplinary solutions in an evolving and increasingly complex environment.
