Philip Fahy, managing director of Fahy Construction, and Ken Grandon, dealer principal of Grandons Toyota. Grandons has announced plans for a major expansion of its Sallybrook dealership with a redevelopment project valued at more than €2m.

A €2m expansion is to get underway at Grandons Toyota Glanmire after the motor dealership received a planning green light for its redevelopment project.

The expansion at the firm will see the showroom upgraded, the workshop expanded with additional vehicle repair bays, an upgraded parts and service department, and redesigned sales consultation hubs. The investment at the Sallybrook headquarters is the largest in the company's history and comes as the business prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

Grandons currently employs 150 people across its three premises in the Glanmire area.  "This investment is about preparing Grandons for the next 50 years. Our goal is to provide customers with an experience that is second to none, whether they are purchasing a vehicle, visiting our service department or seeking parts and support," said dealer principal Ken Grandon.

"The new development will allow us to bring together the very latest Toyota retail concepts, a significantly enhanced customer service environment, and a state-of-the-art workshop facility."

The contract to carry out the work has been awarded to local firm Fahy Construction, with up to 40 tradespeople to be employed on the project during the build phase. Completion is targeted for December 2026.

Grandons said upon completion, it will create at least 10 new full-time positions across sales, service, valeting and parts. As part of the redevelopment, Grandons will expand its solar energy infrastructure. "The expansion will include additional renewable energy infrastructure, helping us reduce our environmental impact and support our long-term carbon reduction goals. We look forward to welcoming customers to our new Sallybrook dealership when the project is completed in December 2026."
