Renewable energy firm Greenvolt Next is to create 50 jobs in Waterford over the next year as it eyes expansion.

The company, part of Greenvolt Group, will be recruiting mid-level to senior managers to support its operations in Ireland and the UK. Roles will include project engineers, senior project engineers, project managers and site managers. A further 40 jobs are being created at UK arm of the business.

These new positions are part of a significant investment in the company’s expansion. This funding will also go towards the further development of Greenvolt Next’s existing headquarters in Waterford, which is being increased by 2,176sq ft.

The company said the expanded team would allow Greenvolt to deliver larger-scale projects. The firm has already developed the Sanofi Waterford solar farm and works with retailers including Lidl, Aldi and Tesco. Last month, it completed a 2.2MWp ground-mounted solar farm at the Astellas Damastown facility in Dublin.

Over the next three years, the firm anticipates growing demand for solar panel installations, and battery storage projects over the next 12 months. In 2025, Greenvolt Next reduced customer CO2 emissions by 30,000 tonnes, with a further reduction of 150,000 tonnes of CO2 projected over the next three years as demand for renewable energy soars.

Owen Power, chief executive of Greenvolt Next Ireland & UK, said: “Our success to date has been driven by our ability to deliver the most reliable and cost-effective energy solutions to customers, underpinned by unmatched resources and expertise.

"Looking to the future, which will only see greater demand for such projects, we want to continue making a tangible impact for businesses and the environment.

“That means investing in operations, growing the team and innovating for customers. As well as marking the next stage in our own journey, this will allow us to make renewable energy easy for more organisations across Ireland and the UK. In turn, they will not only be more sustainable but also more successful.”
