Mediahuis Ireland has announced it has taken a "significant stake" in sports streaming platform Clubber.

Founded by Tipperary man Jimmy Doyle five years ago, Clubber operates GAA streaming to access more than 1,500 matches annually, including club and various age grade competitions. Clubber signed a deal with Cork GAA earlier this year for a three-year streaming rights agreement believed to be worth €500,000.

As part of the agreement, Mediahuis Ireland will join the Clubber board.

"Following success in Ireland, the next step is expanding into the UK, replicating the playbook across a broader range of sports and competitions," said a statement from Mediahuis.
