Cork City FC is continuing to expand its revenue streams away from home matchday as the club confirmed it will screen its away game against Derry City on Friday, April 4th at The Arc Cinema.
Cork City owner Dermot Usher is targeting annual commercial revenues of more than €1m as he outlined ambitious plans for the club’s future. Last weekend the club through its Rebel Army Events promotion, organised shows at the RDS and a sold-out Cork Opera House for its Italia 90 events with the members of Jack Charlton's squad from the 1990 World Cup. Cork City has also started designing its own kits, with plans to design kits for other clubs. Mr Usher called this a "business within a business".
The club recently announced a new partnership with the Cork city centre cinema, an innovative deal for a League of Ireland club. The second game to be screened will be against Sligo Rovers on Saturday, April 26th. Adult tickets are €12.50 and child tickets (12 and under) are €9.50, with almost 100 seats available. Both screenings will be family-friendly and no alcohol will be allowed.
“There has been a really positive reaction from our supporters since we announced that some of the away games will be shown on the big screen in a family-friendly atmosphere. This partnership with The Arc Cinema is a first for any League of Ireland football team and we are delighted to be able to offer something different to our supporters who have been turning out in their thousands at Turner’s Cross since the season kicked off," said Cork City FC commercial manager Anthony O’Sullivan.
The event at The Arc is the latest The Arc Cinema general manger Robert Corr said the partnership will allow fans to enjoy games in "the most immersive way possible" on a giant curved screen and with Dolby Atmos surround sound. "We are looking forward to a great atmosphere,” Mr Corr said.
The cinema opens at 7pm for both games. Tickets are available on The Arc Cinema’s website at https://cork.arccinema.ie/.
